Watch: A’s catcher Chris Herrmann suffered groin contusion on pitch in dirt
Oakland A’s catcher Chris Herrmann had a rather painful Sunday afternoon.
Herrmann had to exit the team’s game against the San Francisco Giants in the second inning after trying to block a Brett Anderson pitch in the dirt and taking it right to the nuts instead. Have a look, if you dare:

The 31-year-old Herrmann has played sparingly this season, appearing in just 26 games, so he got his money’s worth on Sunday, if you can call it that.
In any case, Herrmann’s mishap is yet another reminder of how hazardous the catcher position can be for the nether region.
