Lamar Odom reportedly overdosed on drugs, likely has brain damage
Lamar Odom is being treated for a drug overdose, according to a report.
A source inside Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, where Odom is being treated, reportedly told E! Online that doctors found drugs in Odom’s system. The 35-year-old former NBA star was found unconscious at a brothel in Nevada on Tuesday and airlifted to the hospital. He is said to be still alive but in a coma and breathing through a ventilating machine.
Previous reports indicated that Odom was using an herbal substitute for Viagra, but E! is reporting that he was on several different drugs. Odom reportedly suffered an ischemic stroke, which is caused by a blood clot preventing blood flow to the brain and is often associated with drug overdoses.
“So, likely there’s brain damage, but they’re not sure how much,” the report said. “Virtually every drug imaginable was found in his system. He was doing crack cocaine all weekend and he choked on his mucous. They’re now having to fix all the damage it has done.”
There has been speculation that Odom was pushed over the edge by an episode of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” that aired Sunday night, but the E! source claims Odom had been “partying” at Dennis Hof’s Love Ranch South since Friday.
Khloe Kardashian rushed to the hospital to be with Odom late Tuesday night, as did his most prominent former teammate. We’re wishing all the best for Odom, but his health situation sounds pretty grave.
