Michael Jordan congratulates Kobe Bryant for passing him
Michael Jordan congratulated Kobe Bryant on Sunday for passing him on the all-time scoring list.
Bryant made two free throws in the second quarter of the Lakers-Timberwolves game to give him 32,293 career points — one more than Jordan’s 32,292.
“I congratulate Kobe on reaching this milestone,” Jordan said in a statement. “He’s obviously a great player, with a strong work ethic and has an equally strong passion for the game of basketball. I’ve enjoyed watching his game evolve over the years, and I look forward to seeing what he accomplishes next.”
Though MJ will not hesitate to remind you that he has won more championships and MVPs than Bryant, he has been a fan of Kobe for a while. He even said he was not sure how he would do against Kobe 1-on-1, probably because Kobe stole all his moves.
This is a pretty special accomplishment for Kobe. It shows how long he has been playing, how good of a scorer he is, and how long he has been a good player.
To celebrate the occasion, here are a few photos of Bryant in an MJ jersey:

It must be pretty awesome and satisfying to pass your idol in the record books. By the way, Phil Jackson did say Kobe has a better work ethic than MJ.
