Adrien Broner being sued for sexual battery over mall incident

Adrien Broner

Adrien Broner is waiting to find out if criminal charges will be filed against him stemming from an incident at a shopping mall in Atlanta back in February, but the former boxing champion is facing a lawsuit in the meantime.

TMZ reports that Kaila Crews, the woman who says Broner “swiped his hand across [her] private parts” outside a store at the Lenox Square shopping center, is suing Broner for sexual battery. The lawsuit states that Broner was not given permission to “touch any part of her body” at any point and that Crews has suffered emotional distress from the alleged assault. She is seeking payment from Broner for physical and emotional damage.

As TMZ notes, investigators are still gathering evidence to determine if Broner will be criminally charged. A video that surfaced on social media appeared to show Broner being escorted out of the shopping center by police following the incident.

Broner, who is scheduled to fight Jessie Vargas on April 21, has been no stranger to legal trouble in recent years. He was arrested in October of 2016 after being accused of choking a waitress at a Las Vegas nightclub. He also went to jail for 10 days in April of 2016 for a parole violation, and he later settled a dispute stemming from an assault and battery allegation at a bowling alley.
