Bronny James could be less than a week away from making his official college basketball debut.

College basketball insider Seth Davis of The Messenger reported Monday on when the USC freshman Bronny could play in his first game for the Trojans. Davis writes that it is “looking increasingly possible” that Bronny might debut on Sunday, Dec. 10 at home against Long Beach State.

The 19-year-old Bronny just got cleared to make a full return to basketball, including participating in practices and games. This comes a little over four months after Bronny suffered a cardiac arrest during a summer workout at Galen Center (with the cause of the medical incident being revealed later).

USC has started the season just 5-3 with losses to Oklahoma and Gonzaga (both ranked teams) as well as to UC Irvine (an unranked team). The 6-foot-3 combo guard Bronny figures to have a role off the bench for the Trojans behind Boogie Ellis and Isaiah Collier, the team’s two leading scorers.

Meanwhile, Bronny’s father LeBron recently said he will voluntarily miss a game for the Los Angeles Lakers if it comes on the same day as Bronny’s USC debut. The good news for Lakers fans is that Dec. 10 will be an off-day for the team, even if they make it all the way to the In-Season Tournament Championship Game (which is scheduled for Dec. 9).
