Tariq Owens to play through ankle injury in championship game
Tariq Owens will play for Texas Tech in the National Championship Game against Virginia on Monday night despite his ankle injury.
The Red Raiders senior forward injured his ankle and knee landing on his teammate in the second half of the team’s win over Michigan State on Saturday:
Tariq Owens injury video: lands on teammates foot causing lateral ankle sprain as well as hyperextending his right knee as well. I’d be shocked if he returned tonight. But it is the final four. He was able to walk off court with limp. #finalfour2019 pic.twitter.com/0yZlb3FMZf

Owens had to leave the game and was spotted in a walking boot on Sunday.
Despite the injury, Texas Tech coach Chris Beard said that Owens would play in the title game.
Chris Beard just told me under normal circumstances Tariq Owens would not play but because it’s the National Championship game, he WILL be out there. @CBSSports @TexasTechMBB @FinalFour pic.twitter.com/plE3DDKPdp
