Nebraska QB Adrian Martinez leaves game with apparent leg injury

Nebraska freshman quarterback Adrian Martinez was having a quality debut until an apparent leg injury knocked him out of the game.

Martinez had to be helped off the field during the fourth quarter of Saturday’s game against Colorado after bending his right leg awkwardly.

Martinez was replaced by sophomore walk-on Andrew Bunch with the Cornhuskers ahead 28-27 and 3:29 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Martinez had shown flashes of excellence before suffering the injury. He went 15-of-20 for 187 yards with a touchdown and an interception, and added 117 yards and two more touchdowns on the ground. The true freshman was named Nebraska’s starter in August, solidifying his status as the star recruit from coach Scott Frost’s first class.
