Derrick Henry posted crazy numbers at Alabama’s spring testing

Derrick Henry Dodge Charger

Derrick Henry stands out on a football field, even when playing in an SEC game against fellow former top recruits in the country. The guy is massive at 6-foot-3 and 241 pounds, so perhaps it’s no surprise that he posted beastly numbers at Alabama’s spring testing.

Al.com’s Matt Zenitz published an article Friday that includes several of the numbers from Alabama’s spring testing. The troubled Jonathan Taylor appears to be the strongest player in the program as he maxed out on the bench press at 500 pounds (the most Bama allows its players to lift), squatted 600 pounds and led the program with a 365-pound power clean. Sophomore corner Tony Brown was the fastest with a 4.34 40-yard dash time.

But check out these numbers for Henry, which are like off the charts for a running back. According to what Zenitz was told, Henry ran a 4.50 40; bench pressed 440 pounds; squatted 500 pounds; power cleaned 345 pounds; and recorded a 35-inch vertical leap.

Henry saw limited action as a freshman, but he had a much increased workload last season. He rushed for 990 yards on 172 carries and scored 11 touchdowns as a sophomore. This guy is going to be a monster in the NFL.
