Drake Maye on Monday announced his decision regarding the NFL Draft.

The redshirt sophomore posted a note on social media saying that he will be entering the NFL Draft.

“First off, I want to thank the good Lord for the ways in which he continues to bless my life. I want to thank my family and friends for the consistent support through the ups and downs,” Maye wrote in his note.

“Thank you, Coach Brown, for the opportunity to live out my dream of playing quarterback in Carolina Blue. To the rest of the coaching staff and support staff, thank you for the countless hours of helping me along the way.

“Tar Heel Nation, the best fans out there. You have made my time at UNC truly special, thank y’all. I have decided to forego the bowl game and declare for the NFL Draft.

“Forever and always, Go Heels!”

North Carolina went 8-4 and will face West Virginia in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl on Dec. 27, but Maye will not be playing in that game.

Maye completed 63.3 percent of his passes this season for 3,608 yards, 24 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. Last year, Maye passed for 4,321 yards, 38 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. He also rushed for 1,209 yards and 16 touchdowns with North Carolina.

The 6-foot-4 quarterback is projected to be one of the top picks in April’s draft.
