49ers RB group has neat tribute to Jerick McKinnon as ACL rehab continues

Jerick McKinnon has not been able to get onto the field for the San Francisco 49ers since he signed with them prior to the 2018 season, but his teammates want to make sure he feels like he is a part of the special year they are having.

McKinnon suffered a torn ACL before the regular season last year, and he had multiple setbacks during his recovery. He then underwent a second surgery this past September and was ruled out for 2019. For their flight to Arizona for this week’s game against the Cardinals, the 49ers’ running back group decided to honor McKinnon by all wearing his No. 28 jersey.

McKinnon signed a four-year, $30 million deal with the Niners last year, so it goes without saying that they expected him to play a significant role in their offense. It’s a shame the way things turned out for him.

The 49ers are 7-0 this year and look like they have a legitimate chance to reach the Super Bowl, but it’s nice to see they haven’t forgotten about McKinnon.
