Adrian Peterson on Teddy Bridgewater: He reminds me of Tom Brady

Teddy Bridgewater

Adrian Peterson expects big things from Teddy Bridgewater in the quarterback’s third NFL season, and he is confident the former Louisville star can lead the Minnesota Vikings to a championship. How do we know that? Because Peterson sees some Tom Brady in Bridgewater.

On Friday, Peterson told PFT Live that Bridgewater reminds him of Brady because of the young quarterback’s success in the intermediate passing game.

“He reminds me of a Tom Brady because Tom Brady is great at those mediocre passes,” Peterson said. “Those short passes and midrange passes and that’s exactly what Teddy does as well. He’s the type of guy that needs the receiver that runs routes and that’s at a specific location that you’re practicing. So I feel like with the additions that we’ve made to the offensive line, and of course me envisioning what I’ll be able to bring to the offense as well, I think that’s going to make his job a lot easier. With that he’ll feel more comfortable and he can really get back there and just play his game. So I’m expecting big things from Teddy this year.”

Bridgewater has had stretches of very good play, but he still has a lot to prove. Even if he has some Brady-like tendencies in the short passing game, Peterson knows as well as we do that he is a long, long way off from being legitimately compared to a four-time Super Bowl champion.

The Vikings have always been high on Bridgewater, as evidenced by reports like this one. While Peterson will still be the focal point of Minnesota’s offense, you could argue that the team will go as far as Bridegwater will take it in 2016.
