AJ McCarron released by Raiders to save money

AJ McCarron

AJ McCarron has been released by the Oakland Raiders.

The move came on Thursday as the Raiders need to clear some cash to pay some of their new free agent additions.

The Raiders have Derek Carr as their starting quarterback and signed Nathan Peterman in January to a reserve/future contract. It’s unclear whether they will move forward with Peterman as their backup or seek someone new.

There is some suspicion that the Cincinnati Bengals may try to bring McCarron back.

McCarron barely saw any game action for the Raiders last season. His most extensive NFL game experience came in seven games for the Bengals during the 2015 season where he threw six touchdowns and two interceptions.
