Cecil Shorts sounds off about not getting ball after Jaguars’ loss to Cardinals

The Jacksonville Jaguars lost to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. That’s kind of what everyone expected to happen, but wide receiver Cecil Shorts provided us with some fireworks while speaking to reporters after the game.

Shorts leads the team in catches and receiving yards, but he had just two receptions for 22 yards in the 27-14 loss. He was targeted just five times and let it be known that he wants the ball more.

“I’m not holding my tongue anymore,” Shorts said, via Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union. “To have one target until seven minutes left in the game, that’s [expletive] dumb. That’s dumb, period.”

Shorts was then asked if he intends to share his displeasure with head coach Gus Bradley.

“I have to say something and sit down with them because it’s getting ridiculous in my opinion,” he said. “I’ve said too much already.”

It was only a matter of time before a Jaguars player aired out their frustration. With the exception of last week’s surprising win over the Tennessee Titans, nothing has gone right for Jacksonville. The only thing Shorts and company have to look forward to is the possibility of scoring the No. 1 overall pick in next April’s draft. With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers having won their second game of the season on Sunday, the Jags are now in prime position to “earn” the top pick. That’s just the reality of the situation.
