Charles Woodson to speak at Michigan spring commencement

Charles Woodson

Many college commencement speakers are politicians, community leaders, or other luminaries. The University of Michigan is taking a different approach for their upcoming spring commencement — they’re inviting a former football player.

Charles Woodson will be the commencement speaker at the ceremony, the school announced.

“Charles Woodson and David Walt have built on their experiences at University of Michigan to make positive impacts in our society,” university president Mark Schlissel said, via Andrew Hiyama of Michigan Daily. “They are outstanding leaders in their fields, and I am pleased that they have agreed to share their inspirational stories with our graduates this spring.”

Woodson went undefeated with the Wolverines in 1997 and won the Heisman Trophy. We’ll see if his commencement advice matches Russell Wilson’s in terms of wisdom.
