NFL writers Jason La Canfora, Bart Hubbuch get into Twitter fight
Hubbuch, who writes for the New York post, and La Canfora, who now works for CBS Sports, got into an epic Twitter beef on Thursday night. It all started when La Canfora tweeted a link to his latest story, which examines the local media’s role in the circus that has become the New York Jets.
@HubbuchNYP believe it or not, its possible to write about Jets without an agenda. might even work at a ridiculous tabloid. try it sometime
— Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) August 29, 2013
Hubbuch fired the first shot and clearly struck a nerve with La Canfora, who defended himself by saying the piece is about Rex Ryan and accusing Hubbuch of not even taking the time to read it. We’ll let the two of them take it from here.
@HubbuchNYP the column is about Rex, try reading it. and I'm no Rex defender. google it next time you watch the Jets stretch expert

@JasonLaCanfora Ah, insults now. I seem to have touched a nerve by outing your “suck up to the GM by bashing local guys” shtick, tough guy.
— Bart Hubbuch (@HubbuchNYP) August 29, 2013
@HubbuchNYP Keep this up though, it suits you. Maybe one day Papa Murdoch will let you graduate to the back page! then you'll really make it
— Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) August 29, 2013
@HubbuchNYP you caught me on a good night. plenty of time to slap you around some more. keep trying to concoct a salient argument
— Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) August 29, 2013
@HubbuchNYP he turned it down, clown. as I reported. reading clearly not your strong suit. keep trying though. I'll give you one more strike
— Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) August 29, 2013
@HubbuchNYP I won't mention professionalism with you. you've done a great job on your own making clear there never was a pretense of it
— Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) August 29, 2013
@HubbuchNYP I'm out. gotta change a diaper. you win. keep championing journalism on the backpage. I can't compete with that
— Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) August 29, 2013
Final word (from me): Nothing worse in my business than a national writer who tries to get in good with a team by bashing the local writers.
— Bart Hubbuch (@HubbuchNYP) August 29, 2013
In La Canfora’s defense, subjects that the New York media have touched on in the past few weeks like “should Rex Ryan be fired in the preseason?” have gotten pretty ridiculous. In Hubbuch’s defense, the Jets are a mess. They deserve most of the criticism that is coming their way given how last season ended and the few improvements they made heading into 2013.
As you may remember, this isn’t the first time La Canfora has gotten into a Twitter fight with another reporter who questioned his work. That NFL truly is a cut throat business.
