Jerry Jones offers very telling quote about Jason Garrett’s future with Cowboys

Jason Garrett

It does not seem like all that long ago that Jerry Jones was enthusiastically defending Jason Garrett against talk that the head coach was on the hot seat, but the Dallas Cowboys owner is now continuously fueling the speculation that Garrett’s days with the team are numbered.

Jones was asked during his appearance on 105.3 The Fan Tuesday about the names being floated around as potential head coaching candidates for the Cowboys next year. He didn’t exactly take the opportunity to throw support behind Garrett. In fact, he would only say that he believes Garrett will be “coaching in the NFL next year.”

If you had any doubt that Garrett was on the verge of losing his job, that should probably be enough to convince you.

Jones has been openly frustrated with the way the Cowboys have played this season, as he believes the roster in place is far better than the team’s 6-6 record indicates. He was highly critical of Garrett following a loss to the New England Patriots two weeks ago, and he then looked disgusted when shown on TV during the Cowboys’ loss to the Buffalo Bills on Thanksgiving Day.

Garrett is coaching out the final year of his contract, so Dallas would not have to fire him if they decided to go in another direction. One report claims Garrett will need to pull off an amazing feat in order to keep his job.
