Josh Jacobs to play Week 17 after undergoing surprise leg surgery?

Josh Jacobs

Oakland Raiders running back Josh Jacobs has been dealing with a shoulder injury that forced him to sit out two of the past three games, but it was a different ailment that resulted in him undergoing a surgical procedure this week.

Jacobs revealed on Instagram on Wednesday that he had the “fastest surgery ever” on his left leg. He said the procedure was unexpected and not planned in advance.

It’s unclear exactly what the issue is, but Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the rookie is expected to be available for Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos.

Between the shoulder injury and the new leg issue, it’s pretty surprising that Jacobs is expected to play. Although, the Raiders still technically have a chance to sneak into the playoffs if they beat the Broncos and have a series of other things fall their way. Jacobs, who leads Oakland with 1,150 rushing yards on the season, may try to gut it out.
