Texans place Jadeveon Clowney on IR

Jadeveon-Clowney

An incredibly disappointing rookie season for Jadeveon Clowney officially came to an end on Thursday, as the Houston Texans announced that they have placed their No. 1 overall pick on season-ending IR.

Texans coach Bill O’Brien said Clowney will have surgery on his right knee.

With that, Clowney’s rookie season ends with just seven tackles and no sacks in four games. Clowney injured his knee against the Washington Redskins in the first week of the season and missed nearly two months. The former South Carolina star returned for Houston’s Oct. 26 game against the Tennessee Titans and appeared in just two games after that.

If Texans fans were fantasizing about Clowney and JJ Watt terrorizing opposing quarterbacks together, they’ll have to wait until 2015.
