Marlins P Jarred Cosart being investigated for alleged gambling
Miami Marlins starting pitcher Jarred Cosart is currently being investigated by Major League Baseball over his potential involvement with gambling.
As the Miami New Times pointed out, the allegations surfaced on Twitter Tuesday night when so-called gambling expert @ghostfadekillah posted several screen shots that showed conversations someone allegedly had with Cosart about betting on games.

Cosart deleted his Twitter account within an hour of the screenshots going viral. Naturally, a bunch of stat nerds started digging up numbers in an attempt to show that Cosart gambles on baseball and is involved with point-shaving. The dude who is responsible for blowing up Cosart’s spot doesn’t think that’s the case.
Just to be clear Cosart was discussing college basketball bets on both occasions. Anyone making a baseball connection is reaching.

@ghostfadekillah claims the only reason he outed Cosart to begin with is because the 24-year-old pitcher was soliciting advice from the “biggest piece of s— on gambling Twitter.”
After Cosart deleted his account, another unverified account popped up in his name and sent some tweets claiming Cosart has never bet on baseball and his account was hacked. Deadspin captured a screenshot before those tweets were taken down, too.
The MLB is still investigating the claims, and it’s quite possible nothing will come of it. This is not the first time Cosart has had something embarrassing happen to him on Twitter, as he had a somewhat public breakup with his girlfriend on social media several years back. Hopefully this incident has a happier ending.
