Josh Donaldson does not anticipate extension with Blue Jays
Josh Donaldson’s contract talks with the Toronto Blue Jays don’t appear to be going well.
Donaldson said Monday that he and the Blue Jays are not on the same page at the moment with regard to contract talks, and while things could change, he expects to become a free agent at season’s end.
Josh Donaldson says he and #BlueJays have talked about an extension, “don’t see eye to eye” at this point and he expects to become FA. But extension talks could “ramp back up” at some point, he says.

Donaldson was his customarily strong self in 2017, hitting .270 with 33 home runs. He has made clear that he would prefer to stay in Toronto, but he’s also going to want what he sees as a fair contract. Obviously, the two sides have not gotten there.
