Raul Ibanez attempted a throw on Tuesday night that will land him on blooper reels for a long time.
Edwin Encarnacion singled during the seventh inning of the Toronto Blue Jays-Seattle Mariners game, and Ibanez went to his left to field it. Jose Bautista went from first to third on the hit. It looked like Ibanez got confused about where he should throw the ball. It looked like he initially thought about throwing home to stop Bautista, but changed his mind at the last second and tried throwing to second to stop Encarnacion. The result was a throw worse than the first one ever made by Scott Smalls at the Sandlot.
Bautista scored on the error to give the Jays a 7-0 lead. Yikes.
So, one question for you: how does this “effort” by Ibanez compare to Delmon Young’s terrible throw from last year?
