Sweet Caroline ‘Red Sox Decline’ Parody is Pure Gold (Audio)

As we have all witnessed or have heard about by now, the Boston Red Sox reverted to their pre-2004 form this month and presented us with one of the most epic collapses in baseball history.  The Sox held a nine-game lead over the Rays in the Wild Card at the beginning of September and somehow did not qualify for the postseason.  I’m sure going 7-20 in the month of September had a little something to do with it.  Dan Shaughnessy was wrong per usual and Robert Andino made no bones about the fact that watching Boston suffer was a thing of beauty.

For those of you who hate the Red Sox, Mike and Mike in the Morning featured a brilliant parody on Wednesday that sums up the last month for Boston fans.  In fact, the song is so clever even miserable Red Sox fans should be able to appreciate it.  Check out the Sweet Caroline “Red Sox Decline” parody song:

UPDATE: As LBS reader Dave S. pointed out, Mike and Mike featured an updated version of the song Thursday morning. Here is the final version of “Red Sox Decline.”

The voice even sounds exactly like Neil Diamond.  As a deeply depressed Red Sox fan, I have no choice but to tip my cap.
