Twins signing Jonathan Schoop to one-year deal

The second baseman market may start to see some movement after one of the top available free agents has signed.

The Minnesota Twins are signing Jonathan Schoop to a one-year deal worth more than $7 million, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.

Schoop spent the first 5.5 seasons of his MLB career with the Baltimore Orioles before they traded him to Milwaukee late last season. He only batted .202 with the Brewers and had an off season all around.

Schoop’s best year came in 2017 when he batted .293 with 35 doubles, 32 homers, 105 RBIs and an .841 OPS. He made the All-Star team that year. He is mostly a second baseman but has also played some shortstop and third base during his career.
