Allen Iverson does not like people mocking Tyronn Lue for infamous step-over

Allen Iverson Tyronn Lue

Allen Iverson had many memorable plays during his career, but one moment that is getting a lot of play lately is his shot over Tyronn Lue in the 2001 NBA Finals.

During Game 1 of the Finals between the Lakers and 76ers, Iverson made a shot and stepped over Lue, who was on the ground.

Lue of course has gone into coaching and became the Cavaliers’ head coach earlier this year. His infamous moment 15 years ago has been getting a lot of play in the form of memes and more, but Iverson doesn’t like the renewed attention.

Here’s what Iverson said about the play during an interview on “The Jump” with ESPN’s Rachel Nichols.

“I don’t like it,” Iverson says of people showing the clip of him stepping over Lue. “Because of love him. I don’t like people joking and all that, because that’s my man.”

Who knew that Iverson was so loving towards Lue? Lue is already having a hard enough time with disrespect from his own players. The last thing he needs is more people mocking him over the infamous Iverson play. It’s nice that A.I. has that kind of heart towards him.
