Hornets purple shirt guy says he did not lose Game 6 for Charlotte

Dwyane Wade purple shirt

The man that the internet has dubbed “purple shirt guy” was widely blamed for riling up Dwyane Wade, and costing the Charlotte Hornets Game 6 on Friday night in the process.

Purple shirt guy, whose real name is Michael Deason, has been a Hornets season-ticket holder for seven years, and he denies that he had any role in losing the game for Charlotte.

“No, I didn’t lose the game for them last night,” Deason told Theoden Janes of the Charlotte Observer. “Hell, did I win the game for them in Game 3 and 4? Because I was cheering a hell of a lot louder in Game 3 and 4.”

While Deason isn’t taking any credit – or blame – for what has transpired on the court, he does believe that he’s in the heads of Miami’s players, at least a little bit.

“Those guys, they don’t like me,” he said. “The coach (Erik Spoelstra) doesn’t like me, the players get in trouble if they talk to me, Gerald Green he tries his best not to talk to me and every time he does they ream him a new one. So when the Heat come to town, I try to step it up a little bit more.”

The 43-year old has become known for his heckling and his trash talk, but some speculated he’d done a bit too much to fire up Wade. Just check out the look Wade gave him. Despite his insistence, you just know that purple shirt guy is desperately hoping the Hornets can pull out Game 7 in Miami, and not just because he’s a fan.
