Wizards big man JaVale McGee just completed his third year in the NBA. The former first-round pick out of Nevada gained some notoriety for dueling against Blake Griffin in the Slam Dunk contest in February. I have a feeling you’ll be remembering him for a different reason now.
On April 28th, weeks after the regular season ended, McGee announced on his twitter “My alter-ego this summer is Pierre… If u see me out I’m only answering to that.” True to his word, McGee has remained in character since making that proclamation. Here are some of his tweets since then:
“Time for Pierre to hit these abs … Pierre is the smooth operator. JaValeMcGee is the monster you’ve grown to know on the court … puttin them wieghts up … PIERRE Doesn’t dream cuz hes living one”
This guy is really taking his whole Pierre alter-ego pretty seriously and it’s somewhat worrisome. I really don’t even know what to make of it. I guess it only confirms what we already knew — JaVale McGee is pretty self-centered. Hopefully the same cannot be said about Pierre.
