Kevin Durant will not shake hands before meeting with Thunder
Kevin Durant has a habit of not shaking hands with his opponents before a game, and he won’t be making an exception for Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Durant told ESPN’s Chris Haynes on Wednesday that he won’t be greeting Westbrook before Thursday night’s game against Oklahoma City, but not because of any hard feelings.
“I don’t shake hands. That’s something I’ve never done before a game,” Durant said. “I just take the court to play. After the game, that’s different.”
Durant isn’t making too much of the game. He’s excited about it, but not because it’s his old team.
“Of course I’m looking forward to the game,” Durant said. “We’re competitors.”
Durant has downplayed stories of ill will between himself and Westbrook. It will still be intriguing to see how they interact when they take the court, though.
