Kyrie Irving concerned about knee flaring up in loss to Hawks

The Cleveland Cavaliers continue to run into problem after problem.

The Cavs lost 114-100 on Friday to an Atlanta Hawks team resting its starters, and to make matters worse, there was concern after the game over the state of point guard Kyrie Irving’s surgically repaired left knee.

“After halftime my left knee just started kind of flaring up,” Irving said, via ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. “[Thursday] just was a terrible day for me and my knee. … It was just one of those days. Guys that have had knee surgery before understand that. It was one of those days. I just did my best all of yesterday just trying to recover and do everything possible. So I had a great chance of playing at a high level, and then after halftime it just f—ing flared up. Excuse my language, sorry.”

Things like this are precisely why coach Tyronn Lue feels this way about his team. Irving doesn’t seem too worried about long-term implications, but it’s not something Cleveland needs right now.
