LeBron James says he’d risk missing a game to watch Cowboys in Super Bowl

How big of a Dallas Cowboys fan is LeBron James? Apparently big enough to take a personal day from work if it meant watching his team in the Super Bowl. Yes, work as in with the Miami Heat. Yes, personal day as in skipping a game if that’s what it took.

Last week, LeBron expressed his frustration over the fact that the Heat players were not able to watch the Super Bowl due to their travel arrangements. Miami played a game in Toronto that tipped off at 2 p.m. on Sunday, but they also had a home game on Monday night. That means they had to get on a plane immediately following their win over the Raptors. That plane had no satellite television or wireless internet.

“How disgusting is that?” James said last week, via the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “If the Cowboys were in the Super Bowl, I’d stay there for the game.”

He then took it a step further. When a reporter reminded him that staying in Toronto for the Super Bowl could have potentially meant missing the Heat’s game the following night, LeBron stood behind his initial claim.

“Are you crazy, I would never leave,” he said.

I find it hard to believe that LeBron would miss an actual game just to watch the Super Bowl, but it’s entertaining to hear that NBA players who make millions a year are just as interested in being fans as we are. Worst case scenario is LeBron would have chartered his own flight and gotten home at a rough hour.
