Mexico, Missouri – Tyronn Lue shouts out his hometown
Tyronn Lue must be trying to get a street named after him in his hometown, because he made doubly sure to recognize Mexico, Missouri, after winning the NBA championship on Sunday.
On two occasions during the Cleveland Cavaliers’ celebration, Lue shouted out Mexico, Missouri — his hometown.
“I just want to give a shoutout to Mexico, Missouri, and Cleveland, Ohio. We’re coming back, baby!” said Lue.
Lue’s Mexico shoutout led to some funny tweets:
Ty Lue just mentioned Mexico, Missouri so many times that Trump wants to deport him. #NBAFinals #trophyceremony

In his postgame news conference, Lue explained his shoutouts.
“I’m just so proud, man, where I’ve come from. It’s just crazy that a guy from a small town — Mexico, Missouri — it was more people in the stands tonight than there is in my hometown. It’s just an unbelievable feeling. Just happy that a small-town boy could do something positive and show kids there is hope. It’s an unbelievable feeling,” said Lue.
