NBA scout: LeBron James can’t dunk like he used to

LeBron James dunk

LeBron James‘ dunking stats are down this season, and league personnel have noticed a difference in the four-time NBA MVP.

An Eastern Conference assistant coach told ESPN that he has noticed the Cleveland Cavaliers forward does not attack as much as he used to, though he does see that James exploits a defense’s weakness. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst also quoted an advance scout who does not think LeBron can dunk like he used to.

From Windhorst’s article:

“The LeBron who could dunk on any player at any time is probably gone,” said one league advance scout. “He’s probably never been a better basketball player than he is right now, though.”

League executives and scouts are seeing James not look as bouncy and athletic this season compared to recent years. They especially point to his field-goal percentage, which has alarmingly dropped 10 percent from last season.

Even though people believe James is not what he was, they all are in agreement that he is still a great player and possibly as good as he’s ever been, which is what really matters. And like we said, this isn’t the first time something has come up about James’ lack of dunks this year.

LeBron’s numbers are down across the board for now, but that was to be expected with him changing teams. The important thing is that the Cavs are starting to come together and are beginning to look like one of the better teams in the East. We knew it would just be a matter of time. And if you’re really in need of seeing a monster dunk by James, watch this.
