Stephen Curry disputes whether auctioned mouthguard is even authentic

Stephen-Curry-mouthguard

This summer we learned that some people will pay a whole lot of money for a mouthguard used by the NBA MVP. Imagine the embarrassment, though, if the NBA MVP didn’t even use the mouthguard.

Stephen Curry responded to the fact that one of his reputedly game-used mouthguards fetched over $3,000 at an auction, and didn’t even sound sure that it had actually been his.

“Whoever found it, sold it on eBay for an absurd amount of money,” Curry said at a fundraiser, via Ananth Pandian of CBS Sports. “For some silicon. I don’t understand why.”

The mouthguard was supposedly from a game back in December, and Curry isn’t quite sure how the auctioneer got a hold of it.

“I don’t know where that certificate of authenticity came from,” Curry said.

Well, hey, they said it was authentic. And we doubt the buyer is getting a refund on his investment even if it isn’t.
