Twitter reacts to 76ers pulling rug out from under Mikal Bridges with trade
Mikal Bridges’ stint as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers did not last long.
The 76ers originally drafted Bridges with the No. 10 overall pick, which was one of the coolest stories of the draft; Bridges’ mother works in human resources for the Sixers and would have had her son on the team.
Instead, Philly ended up trading Bridges to the Phoenix Suns for the No. 16 pick and a future first-round pick. Philly gets Zhaire Smith and a 2021 first-round pick from Miami, while the Suns get Bridges.
The Twitter reactions to the feel-good story coming to an abrupt ending were pretty funny. Take a look:

Mikal Bridges’ mom is going to make sure everybody in the 76ers front office goes through two more days of sensitivity training after trading her son.

Mikal Bridges mother works for the 76ers in HR. After trading her son perhaps there will be a staff wide burner account investigation.

Mikal Bridges MOTHER WORKS FOR THE SIXERS. They drafted him, the NBA let he and his mother think he was playing for the Sixers….
And they traded him.
That's the single most incredible reverse karma moment in sports history.

Mikal Bridges just did an entire press conference talking about staying in Philly. He was traded as it ended. He had no idea.

The feel-good story of the night, with Mikal Bridges getting selected by Philly, ends rather quickly. That's a bummer.

The #Sixers just screwed Mikal Bridges after bringing his Mom to the interview(a Sixers employee) then TRADE HIM.
That’s so DIRTY. Keep believing in the process you ZOMBIES. Just awful!— JT The Brick (@JTTheBrick) June 22, 2018
Draft Bridges, a local kid and then ship him. Wow. Crappy move. #Sixers

Not only does Philly get Smith and a future first-round pick, but they also get to save a little salary cap space, which could help their pursuit of free agents this summer.
