Gennady Golovkin has funny comment about his ‘GGG’ alter ego
Gennady Golovkin apparently is comprised of two different people and has two different personalities. There’s Gennady Golovkin, the nice guy outside the boxing ring, and then there’s “GGG” the ferocious boxer inside the ring.
GGG made that distinction clear when he spoke with the media Tuesday upon arriving at the MGM ahead of Saturday’s fight against Canelo Alvarez at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
“It’s amazing to be in Las Vegas. But the bigger thing is the fight is finally here. I am Gennady Golovkin until I walk into the ring. And that’s when I turn into Triple G. It’s not that I’m mean, or angry. I’m just more focused. This is the perfect fight for fans. And the perfect fight for me. I will enjoy it,” Golovkin said.
Well now that has me all confused. How do I know when to refer to him as GGG and when to call him Gennady Golovkin?
Either way, both of his identities will be there on Saturday for the fight with Canelo, which should be one of the best boxing matches in years. His fans will hope to see more of the knockout artist GGG than the nice guy Golovkin.
