Duke mocked for slapping floor while playing zone defense
Duke was mocked on Friday for slapping the floor on defense despite playing a zone.
The Blue Devils were seen slapping the floor late in the first half of their Sweet 16 game against Syracuse. Most found the act to be humorous considering that Duke was playing a “lesser” form of defense in the zone rather than the “tougher” man-to-man.
The act was not well received by online critics.

Floor slap while playing a zone: The same standing around as usual, but with more intensity.

Slapping the floor and telling your opponent to “bring it” is akin to yelling at people to fight you while you have two friends standing in front of you as protection. You just don’t come across as the tough guy you’re trying to portray.
Of course, it’s important to note that the floor slap is Duke’s thing, and this isn’t the first time they’ve been mocked for it.
