Alabama TE Kurt Freitag appears to be a drug dealer
Alabama tight end Kurt Freitag has found himself in some legal trouble after a search of his dorm room last week turned up 112 grams of marijuana and nearly $5,000 in cash.
According to court records obtained by AL.com’s Stephen Dethrage, the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force was tipped off about a possible drug transaction involving Freitag last Tuesday. Agents watched the deal go down and then confronted Freitag, who doesn’t appear to have been charged with a crime.
The complaint says Freitag was read his Miranda rights by officers before he gave them permission to search his dorm room in Alabama’s Bryant Hall. Agents found 112 grams of marijuana and $4,661 in cash while searching the room. They seized the drugs and the money.
While the University of Alabama is looking into the incident and has not offered any details, it’s hard to imagine Freitag remaining on the team. I don’t know how you avoid being arrested with that much weed in your possession, but there was no mention of a charge in the complaint. Either there’s a lot more to the story, or Freitag has probably played his last snap for the Tide.
