Jadar Johnson does not think Lamar Jackson will be a challenge

Jadar Johnson

Saturday’s massive game between Louisville and Clemson got even more interesting thanks to some comments from Tigers safety Jadar Johnson.

Johnson was speaking with the media on Tuesday about the upcoming matchup between the two top-five teams, and he most certainly was not intimidated by the Cardinals. In fact, Johnson said he thought facing Heisman favorite Lamar Jackson will not be “that much of a challenge.”

“That’s No. 8?” Johnson said when asked about Jackson. “I don’t really feel like we have to step out of our element or jump up another notch to really stop him. I feel like we have the tools and we have the skill set to limit him, and I don’t really see any worries with him. Not saying he’s not a good player — he’s definitely a good player. I haven’t really seen a quarterback as versatile as him, but I feel like we have a pretty good defense. So just my confidence in the defense and us as a whole, I don’t think it’ll be that much of a challenge.”

Johnson also was asked what he would do if Jackson tries to hurdle (as he’s been known to do), and his response was that he would slam him.

While Johnson was off making bulletin board comments about the game, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney was much more respectful of his opponent. He called facing Lamar Jackson a “huge challenge” for his secondary.
