Michigan recruit expects ‘at least two national championships’ from his class

Jim Harbaugh headset

Jim Harbaugh has yet to bring a national championship to Ann Arbor, but one Michigan recruit expects that to change in the very near future. And after the Wolverines win their first title since 1997, apparently the next one will immediately follow.

Michigan is off to a great start with 10 recruits for the 2019 class, and one of them is IMG Academy (Fla.) linebacker Charles Thomas. To say Thomas feels good about those who will be joining him in maze and blue would be an understatement.

“It’s a good class,” he told via Land of 10’s Kevin Goheen. “We’re not bringing nothing in but dawgs. When we get there, we expect at least two national championships.”

Wolverines fans would probably be satisfied with one national title at this point, but it’s admirable of Thomas to aim even higher. Thomas, the No. 10 ranked linebacker in the country for 2019 according to 247Sports, says he and his fellow Class of 2019 recruits have already established a close relationship.

“We’ve got a group chat going on and we talk on a daily basis,” he said. “We’re not teammates yet but it’s like we’re teammates. We talk, help each other out and we speak about the future.”

Harbaugh has faced some criticism in the wake of Michigan going 8-5 in his third season with the team, though some of it has come from a pretty biased source. While he’s in no danger of losing his job, eventually he will be expected to bring the program back to the top of the college football world. It helps to have recruits who are committed to making that happen.
