OJ Simpson was ‘forceful’ on first date with Nicole Brown

OJ Simpson Nicole Brown

One serious item of note to emerge from the “OJ: Made in America” documentary aired by ESPN is that warning signs of OJ Simpson’s troubling relationship with Nicole Brown Simpson existed from the start.

As told during Part 1 of the series, OJ was at a club in LA called “The Daisy” when he first met Nicole Brown, who was working at the club as a server. Nicole Brown was 18 and had just finished high school, and OJ, despite being married to first wife Marguerite at the time, proclaimed to those around him he was going to marry Nicole.

OJ took Nicole out, and Nicole’s friend, David LeBon, says OJ was “forceful” on the date. He also says Nicole came back from their first date with ripped jeans.

“They went out and I waited up for them. She got home and it was like 2 o’clock in the morning. Her jeans were ripped and I went ‘what happened?’ recalled LeBon.

“And she goes, ‘well, he was a little forceful.’ And I go ‘Nicole, why would you let him, first date, be a little bit forceful?'” And she said that she really liked OJ.

If OJ Simpson felt comfortable being forceful and ripping Nicole Brown’s jeans on their first date, does it surprise anyone that he became violent later on throughout their relationship? Of course not. What happened was a tragedy, but there were terrible signs about the relationship that portended Simpson’s violent behavior from the start.
