Mohamed Sanu fantasy – AJ Green likely out with toe injury
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver AJ Green aggravated a lingering toe issue during practice this week and was carted off the field. After meeting with a foot specialist on Thursday morning, Green is not expected to play against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. That could give fellow receiver Mohamed Sanu a boost in fantasy football.
Sanu has already emerged as a trusted option for Andy Dalton with Marvin Jones yet to make his 2014 debut. He actually has the same amount of receptions (17) as Green and, like Green, has found the end zone twice. If Green is out against the Panthers, Sanu and Brandon Tate will start at wide receiver. Tate has just six catches on the year.
The Bengals will also likely lean on their running back tandem of Giovanni Bernard and Jeremy Hill. Bernard will probably be used more in the passing game than he typically is, with Hill working as the inside runner.
Even if Green plays, you can expect Dalton to look Sanu’s way quite often. Green would almost certainly be playing at less than 100% health and would probably be more of a decoy than anything. Sanu should be a good sleeper this week against a Panthers defense that has been downright terrible.
