Eli Manning not worried about slump, but admits he must improve

Eli Manning Giants

Eli Manning hasn’t been at his best lately, and he knows it.

That said, the Giants quarterback isn’t worried about his poor run of form, saying he has full confidence in his own abilities.

“I know I can make plays,” Manning said Tuesday, via Jim Hague of the Associated Press. “I know I can get hot. I have to keep working. I’m confident that I can go out there and have a big game.”

Manning knows he has to improve, though. He hasn’t thrown for 200 yards in any of his last three games, and has tallied as many interceptions as touchdowns over the last two.

“I have to play better,” Manning said. “I know that. I have to find completions and protect the ball better. I have to find completions, score points and hopefully win. I know we have to clean some things up.

“I feel good. I am healthy. I know that people are going to criticize me, but I’m my own worst critic. I just have to do my job and prepare each week.”

Manning’s issues have left some of his receivers disillusioned, but the good news for the Giants is that the team isn’t suffering that much. They just beat Dallas on the strength of their suffocating defense, and if there’s more to come from Manning, you’re looking at a potential Super Bowl contender.
