Report: Jets have asked Raiders about Khalil Mack trade

Khalil Mack

The New York Jets are trying to take advantage of what may be the NFL’s most toxic holdout situation.

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, the Jets have been in contact with the Oakland Raiders to discuss a trade for linebacker Khalil Mack, though no formal offer has been made.

Over a dozen teams have asked the Raiders about Mack, some more than once. The Raiders have maintained that they will not move the All-Pro, though until a new contract is signed, teams are holding out hope.

The Jets have a very clear need for a pass rusher, but Mack would improve any defense in the NFL. He has 36.5 sacks over his past three seasons, and would be a huge addition for anyone.

Mack and the Raiders are at an impasse, reportedly haven’t spoken in months, and there’s reason to believe he’d be willing to skip regular season games without a new contract. As long as that’s the case, the trade rumors will fly.
