Kam Chancellor has not participated in practices leading up to the Seahwaks’ season opener due to his holding out over his contract situation. On Thursday, his jersey made an appearance during the team’s practice, but he wasn’t wearing it.

As the team prepared to face the Rams on Sunday, Marshawn Lynch did so sporting Chancellor’s blue No. 31 while the rest of the offense was in white jerseys. Chancellor responded by thanking Lynch via his Instagram account.

“My mans always stay 100. Preciate the support. real recognize real.. #NoHollywood #WeKnowTheTruth #AlwaysGotMyBack” Chancellor wrote.

Chancellor signed an extension with the Seahawks two years ago with $17 million guaranteed. Since then, the 27-year-old has continued to cement his place among the better defensive players in the league, earning Pro Bowl nods in 2013 and 2014.

Although Chancellor’s current deal doesn’t expire until after the 2017 season, none of the money after this season is guaranteed. His base salary the next three years would be $4.5 million for 2015, $5.1 million in 2016, and $6.8 million in 2017.

Pete Carroll has urged business as usual and the Seahawks are preparing for life without Chancellor until further notice. That said, there are teammates who who support his decision to hold out. It’s safe to say we can include Marshawn Lynch in that group.
