Report: Matt Patricia would be leading candidate if Lions job opens up
The Detroit Lions could look to New England for a new head coach if they part ways with Jim Caldwell.
Michael Silver of NFL.com reported Saturday that, if the Lions do decide to move on from Caldwell, Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia would be the leading candidate to replace him.

Lions general manager Bob Quinn was formerly with the Patriots, and Patricia has been with the organization for over a decade. It would be no surprise to see Quinn go back to that well.
Caldwell got a contract extension before the season, but it only guarantees him through next year. After missing out on the playoffs, the team may look to go in another direction.
