Quarterbacks are very rarely fined in the NFL, but Nick Foles will likely earn himself one this week for a dirty block he threw against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. Foles negated a Philadelphia Eagles touchdown when he was called for a crack-back block on Vikings linebacker Erin Henderson.
Coaches often tell quarterbacks not to throw blocks because they could hurt themselves. The block Foles threw is the type that can end a defender’s season. Henderson had no chance of catching the speedy DeSean Jackson, who sprinted into the end zone.
If it’s a dirty play when Ndamukong Suh does it, it’s a dirty play when Foles does it. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured.
