Tampa Bay Bucs unveil new uniforms

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers unveiled new uniforms for the 2014 season on Monday, which the team believes blend a mix of tradition with a modern design. That modern design includes includes a reflective chrome border around the numbers on the jerseys — something that has not been done before in the NFL.

“Today marks the culmination of more than two years of research and planning to bring the Tampa Bay Buccaneers into a new and exciting era of our history,” Bucs co-chairman Edward Glazer told the team’s official website. “We worked closely with our partners at Nike to design a uniform that would set the standard for both design and functionality. The result is a sleek, modern design that honors our championship past while also establishing a new, bolder identity moving forward.”

The uniforms also feature the color orange, which was nixed altogether in the late 1990s when Tampa Bay introduced its predominantly red, white, black and gold design.

While I hate when people overreact to uniform changes, I’m not a huge fan of these. They look a little too similar to the threads Maryland introduced a couple of years back, and you know how we feel about those.
