Tony Romo laughs off jokes about ‘fat’ picture

Tony Romo fat

It appears Tony Romo fell victim to an unflattering camera angle at Dallas Cowboys training camp over the weekend, and the veteran quarterback is taking it in stride.

When asked about all the jokes and memes that have been rolling in since a photo of him looking a bit overweight when viral, Romo simply chuckled.

“I think I have gone through enough criticism in my career that that is the least of my worries,” Romo told reporters on Monday, per Max Faulkner of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “Granted, if I was that big, we would have to have some talks. But I think I will be all right.”

The photo did make Romo look pretty doughy, but Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones put concerns to rest when he insisted Romo is in tremendous shape.

“I think he’s in some of the best shape he’s been in,” Jones said. “Everybody can always get a picture taken of you that makes it look different than it is. I don’t joke with Tony. Tony, actually, I go in there and work out, and Tony is in great shape.”

If you want to see some of the best Romo fat jokes, we gave you a good summary here.

Romo, who is coming off a season in which he broke his collarbone multiple times, will be looking to prove he can stay healthy at age 36. We wouldn’t blame Cowboys fans for being concerned if he was overweight, but it does not appear that is the case.
