Simmonds is under contract for $5 million next season, with a cap hit of just under $4 million. He had 46 points in 75 games, which was his lowest total since 2012, though he played through multiple injuries.
Hextall’s comments come days after The Athletic reported that the Flyers were looking to potentially trade Simmonds.
