ESPN anchor ticked after graphic gives away highlight (Video)
The 9:00 p.m. PT edition of “SportsCenter” got a little colorful Tuesday night when an ESPN anchor seemed to curse after a highlight package was spoiled by a graphic.
Max Bretos and Chris Hassel were co-hosting the late edition of SportsCenter, and Hassel was doing the highlight package for the Sharks-Wild game. The Wild scored in the third period to tie the game at three and send it to overtime. Right after ESPN showed the tying goal, a graphic popped up showing the final score of the game, revealing that the Sharks won 4-3 in overtime.
Upset that video of the winning goal had been spoiled, Hassel complained, “we just gave it away!”
Then it sounded like the anchor said, “nice going, a–hole,” as if he were calling out someone on the technical side for the mistake. However, the more likely scenario is that Hassel was upset with himself for screaming mid-highlight instead of rolling with it. Frustrated with himself, he said, “nice going, Hassel.”
That was a close one.
