Warriors removed wheels of Festus Ezeli’s car for rookie hazing

Festus Ezeli is the latest Golden State Warriors rookie to become a victim of the team’s rookie hazing.

The rookie center from Vanderbilt tweeted Sunday to show that his teammates got him by removing the wheels from his car.

At least Ezeli had a good sense of humor about it. He later tweeted to ask, “Does anyone want to gimme a ride home?” And then he said that the team turned the prank into a scavenger hunt:

Golden State is seriously lucky that Ezeli was cool with the whole thing. To show you how badly things can go when it comes to messing with someone’s car, I refer you to the Kenyon Martin story. But I guess it could have been worse — filling a teammate’s car with buttery popcorn is pretty cruel.

Below is another look at the car:

Nets fill second year ‘rookie’ MarShon Brooks’ car with popcorn (Pictures)

Of all the pranks we see across professional and collegiate athletics, the popcorn in the car gag has to be one of the worst. As you can see from the photo above that Deron Williams tweeted, Nets second-year “rookie” MarShon Brooks recently fell victim to the mother of all car pranks. According to Nets Daily, the Brooklyn veterans have decided that since last season was shortened because of the lockout, Brooks is still considered a rookie for the first 16 games of the upcoming season.

Kenyon Martin Does Not Appreciate Buttered Popcorn in his White Car

I love a good prank. I don’t know about you, but some of my favorite sports stories are the ones where they talk about the shenanigans going on between teammates. Baseball pranks generally are the best, but some basketball pranks aren’t far behind. Though they’re good for the audience, they sometimes leave the people involved less than laughing. Such was the case for Kenyon Martin of the Denver Nuggets.

On Thursday, April Fools Day, Nuggets former ball boy Laquan Johnson went into the Nuggets’ locker room to take Martin’s car keys so he could fill the car with popcorn, replicating a Sacramento Kings prank from last year. Seems pretty harmless right? Oh, I forgot to mention the interior of Martin’s car is white and the popcorn was buttered. Oops. Needless to say Martin was pretty ticked off. He stormed into the locker room and said the following:

“That ain’t no [expletive] joke. I’m going to find out who did it … put my [expletive] hands on one of y’all. I’m going to put my hands on whoever did it. You better believe that. It’s [expletive] personal. You better believe it.”

Apparently, Martin was more angry that someone could just go into the locker room and steal his keys than the prank itself. He was worried that something more serious could have happened.  He even threatened to sit out for the post season if someone didn’t fess up for the prank.

This isn’t the first time that Martin has decided to take matters into his own hands. Last year he got into it with Mark Cuban who was fighting with Martin’s mom. Eventually the ball boy apologized to Martin and said he would pay for the damages. I think it’s K-Mart who should lighten up; it’s only a car and it’s not like he can’t afford to get his interior cleaned.

Shaq Gets Pranked, Seeks Revenge by Cutting Louis Amundson’s Hair

To quoteth the greateth Shaquille O’Nealeth, “Two things you don’t touch for a black man: His food, and his car.” The Suns ponytailed chick off the bench apparently violated the first commandment with a prank on Shaq’s car, filling it up with Styrofoam. Kings rookie Jason Thompson says packing peanuts is much more pleasant than buttery popcorn, so Shaq shouldn’t complain. But Shaq being Shaq you know he has to get the last word. He says he’s planning Sampson-like revenge on Louis Amundson. The video is pretty uneventful but it gives you an idea of the result of the prank.

I guess when you’ve been knocked out of the playoffs for a solid week you have to come up with different ways to keep things interesting. This would be one of them.

Sacramento Kings Prank Rookie Jason Thompson for His Bagel Negligence

Rookie hazing shouldn’t be something too new to you if you’re gracing these pages. The People’s Princess, Joakim Noah, was chastised as a rookie for screwing up his Krispy Kreme duty. Recently, the Phillies put on one of the all-time great pranks when they told Kyle Kendrick he had been traded to Japan. This one won’t wow you by any means, but it’s still fun to see the little kid environment created by a bunch of pro basketball players. Check out what the Sacramento Kings veterans did to rookie Jason Thompson:

The popcorn in the car wouldn’t have been my choice; getting every kernel out is such a hassle. I guarantee he’ll still be picking pieces of popcorn out of the car next year. They did however ensure Thompson won’t forget the bagels next time.
